Search Help

Selecting Scope

You can select 3 types of scope when performing a search, search for this phrase, search any of these words, search all of these words. Searching for a phrase will any records that match that exact phrase. Searching on any of the words, would return all records that match any of those words etc. Doing a custom search will allow you to customize your searches to a more exact level.

For example:

Search on "apples oranges bananas".
If search for this phrase is selected, it will find any records that have "apples oranges bananas" in that exact order (without the "").
If search for any of these word is selected, it will find any records that have the word apples OR oranges OR bananas in the body.
If search for all of these words is selected, it will find any records that have the word apples AND oranges AND bananas.

Selecting Area to Search In

Select the area you would like to search in to further refine your search:
ALL: This searches all areas of the site, this is a SLOW search.
Documents: This searches all documents on the site (example, Future Students, Current Students etc.)
Events: This searches all events on the site including class cancellations.
Links: This searches all links on the site.

Using wildcards

The search does allow you to use a wildcard, *. Placing a wildcard will match all characters following the *.

For example, searching on "app*" will return all records that have a word beginning with "app", for example; application, apple, applicant etc. Searching on "app" without the wildcard will look for all occurrences of the word "app" (which will probably be 0).
